January 2026 – March 2026: Project launch and methodological alignment
TechSportKit officially started on 1 January 2026 for a duration of 36 months, until 31 December 2028. The first phase of the project is dedicated to launching the cooperation, aligning the consortium on the project’s rationale, methodology, expected deliverables and working methods. This initial stage includes the project start, the finalisation of the methodology, and the full consortium kick-off meeting in Paris, France, held in March 2026, which serves as the first major milestone of the project.
April 2026 – September 2026: Digital needs assessment and first evidence collection
During this phase, the consortium begins the research and consultation work aimed at assessing the current and foreseeable digital transition of the sport sector. The focus is placed on defining the sport labour market, gathering survey responses from sport organisations, and analysing the impact of digital transformation on job roles and workforce needs. Key milestones in this period include the digital needs assessment and the survey results collection, both expected in June 2026, as well as the collection of best practice case studies in July 2026. The first public project output of this phase is D2.1 – Survey Results and Analysis Report, due in June 2026.
August 2026 – February 2027: National roundtables and consolidation of WP2 results
The second phase of implementation focuses on consolidating research findings through direct stakeholder engagement. Two national roundtables are planned during this period: one in Bucharest, Romania, and one in Warsaw, Poland, to explore digital skills needs, barriers to digitalisation and the transformation of job profiles in the sport sector. This phase culminates in the delivery of D2.2 – Report on the Sport Labour Market and its Digital Transition, due in February 2027. Around the same time, the consortium meets again for the second Transnational Project Meeting in Bucharest, which is intended to review WP2 findings and prepare the transition into WP3.
March 2027 – August 2027: Digital skills analysis and competency framework development
This phase is dedicated to analysing the efforts required to help the sport workforce adapt to new technologies. The consortium examines practical enablers and obstacles linked to digitalisation, assesses digital skill levels within sport organisations, and develops a structured competency framework. A further roundtable discussion involving European stakeholders is planned in Brussels, Belgium, to strengthen the project’s reflection on workforce needs and employer expectations. This work leads to the production of D3.1 – Inventory of Digital Skills for Sport, due in August 2027.
September 2027 – October 2028: Development, piloting and refinement of the training offer
Once the research and skills analysis phases are completed, TechSportKit moves into implementation. During this period, the partners develop practical training modules on digital tools for the sport sector, pilot them with selected organisations, and refine both the modules and the online delivery environment. This phase aims to transform the project’s analytical work into accessible and concrete learning resources for sport organisations and professionals across Europe. The main output of this stage is D4.1 – Digital Training Modules, due in October 2028. The consortium also plans a third Transnational Project Meeting in Lisbon in December 2027 to support this implementation phase.
June 2027 – December 2028: Communication, visibility and dissemination of project results
Dissemination activities run throughout the project, but they become particularly important from the middle of the action onwards. Communication materials and visibility tools are progressively developed, including the project webpage hosted by the coordinator, and a formal communication deliverable is due in June 2027 under D5.2 – Communication Material. In the final stage of the project, dissemination efforts intensify in order to promote the project’s results to sport employers, sport organisations, policymakers, training providers and other relevant stakeholders across Europe.
December 2028: Final meeting and closing dissemination in Brussels
The final month of TechSportKit is dedicated to closure, capitalisation and final dissemination. The consortium plans its last coordination meeting in Ghent, Belgium, in December 2028, while the project also concludes with a final event in Brussels, designed to present the results and outputs of the action to a wider European audience. This closing phase is documented through D5.1 – Report on Final Event in Brussels, due in December 2028.
